Pride at the Palace: Discover Hampton Court’s LGBT+ stories (Photograph: Historic Royal Palaces)

To mark the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of homosexual acts in England and Wales – and to coincide with the Pride in London Festival - visit Hampton Court Palace for a special series of out of hours tours, exploring some of the most outrageous, touching and illicit Queer stories from history and discover the power, politics and intrigue of sexuality throughout British history.

Hampton Court has served as the backdrop to centuries of royal assignations that have defied convention, and this after-hours tour through the State Apartments promises to delight, surprise and shock in equal measure.

From ancient Greece and Rome to Hampton Court’s Tudor, Stuart and Georgian courts, these stories will show that just because something was illegal doesn’t necessarily mean it wasn’t happening!

Part of #PalacePride event series, celebrating 1,000 years of kings, queens and in-betweens in 2017, the 50th anniversary of the Sexual Offences Act 1967.

Tours start at 18.30 and 19.30 each day. Tour duration approximately 90 minutes and recommended for people aged 16 and over.
