What does diversity and inclusion mean to you?
Diversity and inclusion is about recognising, valuing and celebrating the differences we have, identifying who’s missing from any situation and identifying why and taking proactive steps to ensure everyone is included.
Was there a theme for the Pride in the City event you were involved with?
Yes – wellbeing.
What made you feel you wanted to support this event?
Wellbeing in the workplace is about more than yoga lessons and fruit bowls, it’s about treating your employees as individuals, reflecting on your environment and making it a happier, healthier place to work.
Have you been involved with Pride in London before?
Yes, I helped organise the bi float last year
What impact do you think your theme has in your work in the business world?
I reflect on my employees’ wellbeing every day and try to put the individual before the process.
If you were to give one bit of advice to future business leaders, what would it be?
The most important thing a leader can show is humanity.
Are there any personal stories you would like to share about the topic you covered at your event?
It’s a common misconception that workplaces that talk about mental health will suffer more absence. Studies have shown that workplaces that are open about mental health experience less absence and are healthier, happier places to be.
