Morris Dancing Taster Session

  • Queensborough Community Centre 11 Scovell Road London, England, SE1 1PX United Kingdom (map)

Join us for an evening of fun, laughter, Pride, and Morris dancing!

New Esperance Morris are pleased to invite you to the Pride edition of one of our Morris dancing taster sessions. You might have seen us in the 2018 Pride parade, as winners of the Pride in London Parade Team Award last year, or you may just have a burning passion for Morris dancing!

Our Pride taster session will be at our usual practice hall (Queensborough Community Centre, Southwark), at our usual time of 7.30 - 9.30pm on Wednesday 11th July. You'll get a chance to learn about Morris, watch a quick showcase dance, and spend most of the session having a go yourself - first you'll learn the basic steps, and then build up to dancing with our experienced team. You'll be doing at least one dance with hankies and one with sticks (don't panic, we'll show you how!), so please wear comfortable clothes and shoes that are suitable for active dancing. If you have a disability and would like to talk to us about any needs that may arise, please contact us via our website. If you wish to come as a musician, please let us know your instrument and ability so that we can provide music for you.

Could you be the next great morris dancer? Who knows... but we can promise an evening of fun, great company, enthusiasm, new skills, challenges, and Pride - with bells on!

New Esperance Morris are a women's Morris team who are proud to champion the living tradition of Morris and to celebrate members from many identities under the Pride umbrella... and if you share our love of fun, our ethos, and a passion for dancing, then we welcome you to join us! We want to meet keen dancers, musicians, and friends regardless of race, nationality, sexuality, gender identity, age, disability, culture, or religion. Please see our website for more details and FAQs.
