Zeal: The pride Improv Festival
- Cabaret and Variety
- Plays and Theatre
Following a sell-out 2018, Zeal: The Pride Improv Festival returns for a third year this July with an exciting line-up of queer improv acts from across the UK – showcasing a cross-section of LGBTQIA+ performers in improvised drag, plays, double acts and comedy games. We can't guarantee what will happen – because it's all made up on the spot – but we can guarantee a fun night!
Zeal takes place at The Cavendish Arms, in Stockwell, from 4-7 July. Each night hosts a selection of acts that will have you laughing, crying and wondering how the hell they did it without a script:
Thursday 4 July is Opening Night featuring London’s hottest drag king gang the Bareback Kings, quick-on-their-feet improv troupe Lemonade Brigade, and the Hero's Journey – who create a story of mythical heroes and villains based on audience suggestions.
Friday 5 July’s line-up includes an exciting collection of the finest female talent from across the capital, plus multinational all-female group 20% Less and uplifting stories made up on the spot by The Happiest People In The World.
Saturday 6 July is a Pride night special, with fast-paced sketch show Extreme Championship Improv, London’s first all-queer improv group QI: Queer Improv, and a specially curated performance from sell-out favourites Queerdos.
Sunday 7 July is the perfect way to bring Pride weekend to a close, with Bristol Improv Theatre’s The Delight Collective, laugh-a-minute improv duo Derek’s Mojo and the bizarre happenings of Cambridge’s finest, The Ministry Of Unplanned Occurrences.
The Cavendish Arms is a super-friendly venue with a beer garden and delicious range of pizzas (including gluten-free) Come along and hang out!
Advance tickets are on sale now and are just £6 per night – get in quick because last year sold out!
