Dave the bear
Acrylic on canvas, 65 x 90 cm
This painting of the Burlesque star, 'Dave the Bear' plays with ideas of masculinity, by placing a big hairy man in leather undies into a Disney style woodland with kitschy cute animals.
Does the setting make the subject more or less sexual? Is Dave now camp or butch, or both?
