Jack Savage

Identity parade

Artist name

Jack Savage

Artwork information

Oil on canvas, 48 x 60 inches

This piece is predominately about the massive difference between sex and gender, and how no one’s gender can be assumed by their body. It’s highlighting how often people’s bodies are identifying factors in their identities, and how wrong this is. This is more than a self portrait, it’s an exploration of all people of all genders.

About the artist

My name is Jack, and I’m an 18 year old trans and queer artist from London about to start my foundation year at The Art Academy. Although I was always drawing when I was little, I didn’t continue it as I grew up. However, when I dropped out of school after my GCSEs, I started to seriously explore art again, starting with portraits (ranging from a pop art style to more traditional oil paintings) and moving towards more experimental art using different mediums and subjects. My ultimate dream is to be a full time artist using art as a way of activism.
