Model and activist Munroe Bergdorf will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Pride in London Gala Dinner this year, with tickets going on sale today.

The Gala Dinner is one of the highlights of the Pride calendar, raising crucial funds to ensure London’s largest LGBT+ event can continue to welcome over a million people each year and is free to attend.

The evening will be hosted by comedian Stephen K Amos for the second year in a row, and will feature performances by chart-topping artist Becky Hill. The evening will finish with a DJ set by Jay Jay Revlon.

Tickets include a sparkling drinks reception, a four-course dinner with wine, games, amazing entertainment, and inspiring speeches from a range of guest speakers - as well as an opportunity to rub shoulders with community leaders and Pride supporters on the Gala Dinner red carpet.

Last year’s dinner featured a performance from Grammy Award winner MNEK, which had the hundreds of glamorous guests dancing the night away. Prominent trans rights campaigners Jake and Hannah Graf took to the stage to deliver the 2018 keynote, and Shadow Women & Equalities Secretary Dawn Butler, drag entertainer Courtney Act and The Voice winner Jermain Jackman were all in attendance.

Alex Talcer, Director of Fundraising at Pride in London, said: The proceeds raised through our Gala Dinner each year are absolutely vital for making sure Pride in London stays free to attend. By purchasing a ticket or even a table for the evening you’ll be showing your support for the community and ensuring that this year’s Pride is bigger, better and more inclusive than ever before.

“It’s always a privilege to hear speeches from those who have truly defined the Pride movement in their time, and we’re honoured that Munroe will be sharing her wisdom and experience with us and our guests.”

Munroe Bergdorf, model and activist, said:Trans people of colour were at the forefront of the Stonewall Uprising and the modern Pride movement, so it’s an honour to be speaking at the Pride in London Gala Dinner in such a historic anniversary year. The LGBT+ community still faces a huge number of challenges - both from outside and from within - which is exactly why we need to keep speaking out, sparking conversations and making our voices heard. Pride must remain a space where everyone in the community can celebrate, protest and be themselves, meaning raising the funds to keep it free is now more important than ever.”

The Pride in London Gala Dinner 2019 will take place on Thursday 20 June 2019 and will once again return to the iconic Grade II* listed De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms.
