Responding to the recent terror attacks in Manchester and London, Co-chairs of Pride in London, Alison Camps and Michael Salter-Church said:

“In recent months there have been horrendous attacks on our country, on our city, and on our way of life. We all mourn the tragic and senseless loss of life.

“Understandably many of our volunteers, partners and supporters have been seeking reassurance about the safety and security of Pride, and asking whether there will be any impact on this year’s event.

“Following the brutal shooting in an LGBT nightclub in Orlando last year the police provided the support we needed to ensure the safety of everyone at Pride. We are committed to this partnership and will keep the situation under constant review. We will take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of all Pride events. Safety and security remains our number one priority and we continue to work closely with the police, Mayor of London, Westminster Council, Fire Brigade, Ambulance Service, Transport for London and other agencies.

“Pride in London continues to be one of the safest events in London thanks to the incredible support and cooperation of the Metropolitan Police Service. We especially admire their dedication, bravery and professionalism at this time.

“As Richard Angell, one of the witnesses to the London Bridge attack said, "if having a gin and tonic with friends, flirting with handsome men and hanging out with brilliant women offends these people so much, we’re going to do it more, not less".  So this year's event will be bigger than before and we will be marching with Pride and defiance, we will hold our heads up high in the face of those people who would wish to do us harm.

“Pride is one of the greatest symbols of acceptance, diversity and equality, and is a true celebration of London and all its people."
