Pride in London’s Pride Festival returns with over 100 LGBT+ events

This year’s Pride Festival kicks off today and will now run for a whole month. With everything from ping pong, to Morris dancing, to an under 18 talent competition - there’s something for everyone across the capital.

The Pride Festival is London’s biggest LGBT+ Festival where volunteers and community groups come together to showcase everything it means to be LGBT+ in the capital today. The theme for this year’s Pride is “Pride Matters” where Festival goers and Parade marchers alike are encouraged to think about what Pride means to them.

“This year marks a big milestone for Pride Festival – with more than 100 events happening, I think we’ve now become the world’s largest LGBT+ festival,” said Simon Jones, Events Director of Pride in London. “We are thrilled to curate our most diverse and inclusive Festival yet and with so much on offer – no one will be bored!”

Highlights for the 2018 Festival include:

Flawless Talent – 17th June: A debut of the first ever under 18s talent competition in London, featuring mind-blowing young LGBT+ performers, a collaborative event from Pride in London and Mosaic Trust and sponsored by Conway Hall.

Rising Stars at Underbelly Festival – 2nd July. The talented LGBT+ community of London will keep you entertained all night long through music, dance, comedy, acrobatics, bands and even a choir! The event is directed and produced by none other than Ian Massa-Harris-McFeely and hosted by Michael Twaits.

Science Museum Sexuality Late – 27th June: An adults-only, after-hours theme night, celebrating human sexuality with talks, performances, music and visual arts from the LGBT+ community.

The Pride in London Variety Show – 27th June: Being held at the Science Museum, in the IMAX Theatre, as part of Sexuality Late, this one-off Pride in London variety show exclusive includes the legendary Mzz Kimberley and special guests, along with drag royalty host Michael Twaits.

LGBT Summer Picnic – 24th June: Hampstead Heath. Just a chilled out afternoon on Hampstead Heath. Enjoy a drink and a bite to eat with friends, old and new, in the summer sun. You can bring your own food and drink, get a takeout or buy some food from local stores only a few minutes walk away.

Talent Sessions – 29th June: The Hospital Club – See the winners of this year’s Pride’s Got Talent competition perform, along with Mzz Kimberley, and cabaret sensation host Michael Twaits. This event is free to attend.

Additional events include ping pong, life drawing sessions, badminton, shows, films, talks, walks, a self-defence workshop, cabaret, theatre, yoga, puzzle games, comedy improv, business networking, socials, a binge-watch film evening, bowling, and more.
