Ozzy Amir Elected Chair of Pride in London's Community Advisory Board

Ozzy Amir Elected Chair of Pride in London's Community Advisory Board

Ozzy Amir has been elected as the new Chair of Pride in London's Community Advisory Board. The election comes after previous Chair, Adrian Hyyrylainen-Trett, stepped down in November 2017. Deputy Chair Edward Lord has been the acting Chair during this period.
Representation and diversity are key objectives for CAB, reflected by Amir's outstanding contribution as BME representative and recognised by his unanimous appointment by the Board. Electing a new Chair is also seen by CAB as an important opportunity to forge a stronger, more productive relationship between the Community Advisory Board and Pride in London.

Amir (A 26-year-old entrepreneur from South London) said,

“Our community's voices and concerns should always be at the front and centre of Pride - that's the purpose of the Community Advisory Board. I am humbled by the support shown by my fellow CAB members in electing me as Chair, it is a big responsibility, and I am delighted at the opportunity.
Going forward, we will be making important decisions on our governance and how we can be as representative and diverse as possible. We will continue to work closely together with Pride in London to ensure that this Pride, and all future Prides, are the most inclusive yet."

Ali Camps Co-Chair of Pride in London said,

"Under community ownership Pride in London has become one of the world's largest and most successful Pride events. It remains volunteer-led and free to attend for a diverse spectrum of the LGBT+ community and their allies.
The Community Advisory Board plays an important role in how these events come to life. We would like to thank Adrian and Ed for their support over the years and we unreservedly welcome Ozzy's appointment as the new Chair. Together we will continue to foster productive working relationship that will lead to a Pride that matters for everyone."

CAB would like to use this opportunity to thank Edward Lord OBE for his stewardship of the board  during the periods of absence of the Chair. We would also like to wish former Chair Adrian Hyyrylainen-Trett all the very best in his new endeavours.
